Predicting preterm birth based on vaginal microbiota assessment by real-time PCR in the first trimester

چکیده
Detecting high risk of preterm birth (PB) early makes its prevention possible. The aim the work was to develop a mathematical predictive model for assessing based on quantitative analysis vaginal microbiota in first trimester pregnancy. study included 199 pregnant women, i.e. 41 pregnancies that ended birth, and 158 — term birth. Vaginal analyzed all patients 1st pregnancy by real-time PCR (qPCR). method dicriminant used model. A predicting PB developed with calculation PRIMA prognostic index (Premature Birth. Index Of Microbiological Analysis). If value > 0 – premature is low, if < high. sensitivity specificity are respectively 70.7% 79.75%, effectiveness 77.89%. Evaluation it possible identify high-risk group perform timely preventive measures.

The interaction between vaginal microbiota, cervical length, and vaginal progesterone treatment for preterm birth risk
BACKGROUND Preterm birth is the primary cause of infant death worldwide. A short cervix in the second trimester of pregnancy is a risk factor for preterm birth. In specific patient cohorts, vaginal progesterone reduces this risk. Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing, we undertook a prospective study in women at risk of preterm birth (n = 161) to assess (1) the relationship between vaginal microbiota ...

background: vaginal bleeding is a common complication during pregnancy, which is observed in about 1/4 of pregnancies and in half of cases can lead to abortion. if vaginal bleeding happens during pregnancy some adverse pregnancy outcomes, including perinatal mortality and morbidity, low birth weight and preterm delivery will be increased. objective: the aim of this study was to determine the r...
متن کاملCervical length versus vaginal PH in the second trimester as preterm birth predictor
OBJECTIVE To evaluate diagnostic value of vaginal pH and cervical length measurement in the second trimester of pregnancy as a preterm labor (PTL) predictor. METHODS During a prospective cohort study 438 uncomplicated singleton pregnant women between 18 and 24 weeks of gestation were assessed regarding vaginal PH and cervical length. Vaginal pH was measured using Ph-indicator strips and cervi...

OBJECTIVE This study was undertaken to characterise the dominant species of Lactobacillus colonising the vagina of healthy pregnant women, to examine some of their phenotypic and genotypic properties, and to gain a better understanding of the potential role of species, which might be associated with infection-free status. DESIGN A prospective descriptive cohort study. SETTING Department of ...
